<Designated Health Checkup>
1. Items to be tested
Interview, body measurement, measurement of waist, blood pressure, blood test, urinalysis, ECG, eye ground
2. Criteria
Iwaki citizen aged 40-74, who has National Health Insurance. You will be receiving the Checkup Ticket by post, which should be presented together with your insurance card at the site of checkup.
Except: - People eligible for latter-stage elderly health care system
- People who have been hospitalized for six months or longer
- People staying in facilities for disable, elderly nursing home, or elderly nursing care facilities
3. Sites for Medical Checkup

4. Fee
Free of charge
(If you visit a hospital/clinic to run cancer or other tests than included in the Designated Health Checkup, the medical institution will charge you the fee for the additional tests.)
<Advice based on the Test Results>
1. Contents
Advice or assistance will be provided based on the results of Designated Health Checkup.
- Information
Along with the test results, everyone will be receiving information regarding improvement of lifestyle and habits.
- Advice for Motivation
For those tested “need to be motivated for improvement of daily life,” face-to-face medical advice Will be provided.
- More Assistance
For those tested “apt for assistance,” 3-month or longer face-to-face or on-the-phone medical advice will be provided so that you can positively involve yourself into improvement of lifestyle.
2. Criteria
If your waist is measured more than 85 centimetres (male) or 90 centimetres (female), or BMI (weight/height/height) is 25 or more, and if any of the following items are tested out of normal (see below), you are apt for “Advice for Motivation” or “More Assistance.”
- 100mg/dl or more of fasting blood sugar, or 5.2% or more of HbA1c
- 150mg/dl or more of neutral fat (triglyceride), or 40mg/dl or more of HDL cholesterol
- 130mmHg or higher systolic blood pressure, or 85mmHg or higher diastolic blood pressure
- smoking habit
3. Method of Advice/Assistance
Medical advice/assistance will be provided depending on each individual situation. People who are apt for advice/assistance will be receiving information/instruction.
<Comprehensive Medical Checkup>
Iwaki City National Health Insurance plan is providing Comprehensive Medical Checkup for the citizens’ maintenance/enhancement of health and prevention/solution of lifestyle-related diseases.
1. Criteria
Those aged 30 - 74, who has Iwaki City National Health Insurance
- Brain Checkup is for people aged up to 69.
- People who are under latter-stage elderly healthcare system are ineligible.
2. How to apply
Please directly contact any of the medical institution stated in the attached list. (in Japanese only)
3. Duration of application
1st of May, 2011 - 31st of January, 2012
Note: Application will be closed if the applicants reach the limit number even before the 31st of January.
4. Courses of Checkup, Limited Number of Applicants, Fee
Single day course (limit: 1.300 persons) 12,000yen
Two-day course (limit: 230 persons) 18,000yen
Brain Checkup (limit: 100 persons) 13,000yen
5. Things to Bring for the Checkup
- Checkup Ticket
Ticket is being sent to the eligible people in April 2011.
- National Health Insurance card
- Fee
6. Remarks
- People who are taking Single day course cannot take the Designated Health Checkup, Stomach cancer test, or Lung cancer test, which are included in both the Designated Health Checkup and the Single day course.
- People who are taking Two-day course cannot take the Designated Health Checkup, Stomach cancer test, Lung cancer test, or Colon cancer test, which are included in both the Designated Health Checkup and the Single day course.
