Art for Future - Iwaki City Art Museum

UPDATE 2011/05/27

Art for Future - Iwaki City Art Museum

Shigenobu Yoshida

“30th of April, 1999, Bordeaux” by Yoshida Shigenobu

Iwaki City has been suffering from the Great East Japan Earthquake. Coastal districts in the city were heavily damaged by the tidal wave. The problems of the nuclear power plants have not been converged, and we have been hit hard by rumours. But on the other hand, we are stepping forward to reconstruction with the support of relief supplies, SDF members, volunteers, and many others. We really appreciate the support from various people.

Now Iwaki City Art Museum planned this exhibition trying to do something with art.

Diversity of abundance is one of the characteristics of modern art. They do not just beautiful visually, but deliver messages and ask you questions. Excellent art works will keep on asking us for the future that we live.

This exhibition is composed of the works in our collection of Kawara On, Cai Guo-Qiang, Miyajima Tatsuo, and Yoshida Shigenobu who is based in Iwaki. Each of their works will tell many things, make us notice the greatness of human, move us with their beauty, or give us an ease and energy to move forward to restoration.
