Iwaki City Museum of Folklore and Traditional Housing
UPDATE 2009/03/26
Cultural&Educational Facilities

The Iwaki City Museum of Folklore and Traditional Housing is a recreation of a traditional 19th century village.
The houses in this complex were actual family homes from around Iwaki that were dismantled, moved to their current location in New Town, and reassembled.
There are also a number of other traditional items and tools on display at the village, most of which have been donated by the citizens of Iwaki.
The facility provides an interactive learning opportunity to visiting groups in which they can experience for themselves various aspects of traditional life. The facility is decorated traditionally according to the season, with different ornamental displays and various performances and workshops for the numerous events in the Japanese year.
The village also has wells, horse stables, and fields for farming, which are maintained by volunteers.
